Ingredients your kitchen NEEDS in 2021

for joining us today we're going to talk
about the top ten ingredients to have on
hand to cook a quick recipe some of the
ingredients that I think personally are
most important to have always available
so that you can cook a quick meal
whether you're at home or at the
restaurant
they're always important to have around
so what are those ingredients so okay
what we have is we have dry pasta we
have two different types of parts that's
here but really can have as long as you
have dry pasta that's that's efficient
we have X we have butter flour we have
garlic fresh garlic we have a variety of
vegetables and and this is a an
ingredient I consider vegetables to be
one set of ingredients so we also have
rice we have chicken here but really we
want to have it you want to have at
least two or three different types of
proteins also have another again I
consider this to be an ingredient so
seasonings right we have salt and we
have pepper and I'll go into a little
bit more detail in a little bit but salt
and pepper you always want to make sure
you have I think those are number one
and number two or number one because you
always want to make sure that your food
you see some property and then you also
want to have a set of a spices we have
McCormick brown here I like to have a
set of a spices always available to be
able to incorporate into my dishes so
let's go into a little bit more detail
as to why these ingredients are
important you have okay so let's start
with the seasoning salt and pepper so
again it's always very important that
you cook your food and you season it
properly so you always want to make sure
they have pepper whether it's a whole
peppercorns like I have here
salt is an ingredient in and of itself
that's we can go into a lot of detail
about these but there's at least 200
types of different salts out there and
it all depends on the salt what you
using and what you want accompanies by
using salt but again for the all intents
and purposes in seasoning your food I
like to personally use kosher salt when
I'm cooking like use that exclusively
almost exclusively and then when I'm
getting ready to finish up a plate and I
need to sprinkle a little bit or salt
just to brighten up the flavors
Remora like to go with sea-salt proteins
can have a really a meal without having
some sort of protein there so I have
chicken chicken is super versatile we
have chicken breads you have you can
saute these roast them grill on pan sear
and pan fry or you can even brace them
you can store them rice you want to have
some sort of starch I have rice rice is
my go-to and think of a rice pilaf think
of your Mexican rice think of rester
fries really having these will actually
get you to do a lot of will give you the
ability to do a lot of different
cuisines a lot of different meals and
once we started to incorporate all of
these you really think about it you have
a whole meal in and of itself the next
one's gonna be vegetables again
vegetables are healthy for you
they provide color they provide a lot of
nutrients for you so you want to always
make sure that you include vegetables on
your dish and you can need them raw you
can eat them you can grill some of these
vegetables you can roast them you can
even braise some of these garlic I love
garlic I always like to have garlic on
hand fresh garlic and I use it on
everything all my stocks on my soups all
my sauces or my the majority of my
dishes 99% my dishes and it's always fun
to have because it always adds that
added element and yeah it makes the
flavor a little bit more brighter on the
dishes flour is always important for a
couple different reasons flour you can
use both on the savory side and on the
pastry side of course so we eat with
flour is you can do a lot of different
things you can obviously begin to make
cake or you can you can use it for your
Birmingham or your Roux to make your
sauce a little thicker so flour is
always important to have so a dry pasta
I have two different types of pastas
here and these are dry you can keep them
handy all the time and again if you're
in a restaurant setting and you need to
quick cook something really fast
something really quick and if you don't
have the time to do a fresh pasta if you
have these available you have a meal in
and of itself just by throwing some
tomato sauce and some pasta takes about
ten minutes to cook but another
- five ten minutes to cook the tomato
sauce and in 15 minutes you got a whole
meal so again you start thinking about
if you have the tomatoes that you use
for your tomato sauce you have your
pasta you add a little bit of butter you
had some chicken some garlic some
vegetables you have a chicken and
vegetable tomatoes pasta so you have a
meal in and of itself just by using one
two three four different ingredients so
the butter is also always good to have
again very versatile you wanna I like to
personally use butter when I'm cooking
instead of oil for a lot of my soups a
lot of my sauces just gives it a little
bit more of a round more pronounced
flavor if you will and again eggs again
you can start making some pastels you
can start making omelets you can start
making scrambled eggs for breakfast in
the morning and then the spices the
spices are there's millions of spices
out there but really I like to keep a
set of spices that I can always use and
you can use it for a lot different
flavors and a lot of different
techniques and that's why I like to have
to use them like to have them on hand
all the time
by using this dry spices you're able to
incorporate a lot of flavors without
having to use fresh product so I have a
oregano halftime I have a paprika
crushed red peppers garlic powder onion
powder I have seen the moon I'm gonna
have some peppercorns so as long as you
have a set of spices that you can always
go to and use em in some of these
ingredients really in about a matter of
about ten or ten to fifteen minutes you
have a whole meal in and of itself and
so that this is why I consider all these
ingredients to be some of the top ten
ingredients to always have in hand when
you're cooking so again I hope you
